Hi Craig, I thought I would take the time to review your book! Overall, I like its story and scale, but I have a few critiques to help you with your future writing projects!
The first critique I have is that this story has many characters. I feel that less may be more if you are going to write standalone books. You developed the main characters well, but I found it difficult to keep up with many of the supporting characters.
I'm glad that you took the time to develop lore for this universe, but I would recommend that if you want fully developed lore, make this a series so the lore can be developed over many books as opposed to trying to fit it in a standalone book. The same can be said for supporting characters. I'd recommend adding characters to subsequent books.
Overall, I liked the books, but I would recommend making this a series! I hope this review helps, Craig!

A deepening crisis aboard a deep-space colonisation vessel has forced most of its crew to evacuate to the nearest planet. During the evacuation, a ship carrying three young friends to safety malfunctions and strands them in interstellar space. It's not long before the Ranegr - a drifting ship of outlaws - captures their derelict vessel. Put to work in the reactor core amidst hardened brutes by a captain with conquest on his mind, and stalked by bizarre creatures in the shadows, the children's bid to escape and return home is just one thread in a web of ambition and clashing desires, bringing them ever nearer to an ancient mystery lurking in the cosmos.

About the Author
When I was a kid, Commander Keen was my favourite game. And it was awesome! Unfortunately, I only had one game in the series, and my parents weren't... keen... to send their credit card details over the phone to a company overseas. This was well before the Internet, mind you. So I couldn't get the rest of the games, even though I really wanted them. Instead, I started designing my own games and stories on a magnadoodle. That's how I developed my love of storytelling. Then, when I was in year five, my teacher read to me the Chinese creation myth. That triggered a spark in my mind, which over the years transformed into an invented world, with its own mythology, languages, and history.
Tessa Eden grew up upon the shores of Australia's sunny beaches, frolicking in the sand and exploring the beautiful underwater world. Her father being a software engineer, and mother an illustrator, it was natural that she would grow to combine the two, becoming a digital artist. She now spends her days painting digitally, and creating 3D animations and CGI for animation studios in Sydney.
